Angioedema Hub will launch as an open access online independent medical education platform in collaboration with ACARE as strategic partner.
The initial focus on angioedema as a clinical manifestation of chronic urticaria will be on hereditary angioedema (HAE), due to the abundance of scientific research and interest in both HAE therapies already available and several in development.

In memory of Professor Dr Marcus Maurer, a beloved colleague. SES
were devastated to hear the terrible news about Professor Marcus Maurer’s,
disappearance - a tragic loss which still seems incomprehensible.
Prior to his disappearance Professor Maurer, a leading light in the angioedema
space, had established an agreement with SES, in partnership with ACARE and the
Expert Steering Committee, to establish the Angioedema Hub. Professor Maurer
always had an intuitive sense for collaboration between physicians, scientists,
and patient advocates – which was perfectly exemplified in his quote below.
SES is currently in discussions with the Steering Committee regarding new
Chair responsibilities and appropriate operational changes that will now
be needed and we will share these updates in due course.
There is a need for improved education across all angioedema subtypes
including HAE with several interesting newly introduced and development
treatment options in the pipeline.
The Angioedema Hub will perform as an
independent medical education platform in partnership with ACARE,
scientific / physician experts and patient advocacy leaders. The
scientific & medical content strategy will be steered by a
world-renowned expert steering committee and focus on community HCPs
treating angioedema as a clinical manifestation of chronic urticaria.
Support and involvement from the life sciences industry is to be
welcomed.
